Chandannath and Jumla

Jumla's temple town among apple orchards and fields of red Marshi rice, the highest-growing rice in the world.
Jumla Khalanga, at about 2,370 m in the Tila river valley, is the headquarters of Jumla and the gateway to Rara. The Chandannath temple, legendarily founded by a saint who came from Kashmir, and the Bhairabnath temple beside it are the heart of the town.
The valley grows red Marshi rice at over 2,000 m, apples, walnuts and beans. From here the old trails lead to Rara (3–4 days), to Sinja, and to the Patarasi and Guthichaur pastures.
