Limi Valley

The Limi valley, reached over the 4,900 m Nyalu La, holds three villages — Til, Halji and Jang — whose people follow Tibetan Buddhism and a way of life based on yak herding and trade across the border. Halji's Rinchenling monastery is believed to date back around a thousand years.

Wild yak, blue sheep, snow leopards and wolves roam the high country. The Limi valley loop from Simikot, returning via Hilsa, takes about two weeks and is one of Nepal's most remote treks; a restricted-area permit is required.
