Jajarkot Durbar
The palace of the former Jajarkot kingdom, one of the Baise states, on a ridge above the Bheri river.
Jajarkot was one of the Baise (22) principalities of western Nepal, and its Shah rulers kept a local title long after unification. Their palace stands in the district headquarters of Khalanga, above the Bheri river, surrounded by old houses and temples.
The district was hit by a strong earthquake in November 2023 and is rebuilding. Its forests and high pastures stretch north towards Dolpa, and the Bheri valley is known for fish and oranges.
