Khaptad National Park

A high, rolling plateau of meadows and forest in the heart of the far west, known for wildflowers and the ashram of Khaptad Baba.
Khaptad is a plateau at around 3,000 m where four districts meet. Its 22 patans (grassland meadows) are dotted with forest of oak, fir and rhododendron, and in summer carpeted with wildflowers, many used in traditional medicine. The park was established in 1984.
The hermit Khaptad Baba lived here for some fifty years and his ashram remains a pilgrimage site; the Ganga Dashahara fair around Jeth Purnima draws thousands to the Tribeni area. Treks of 5–7 days approach from Silgadhi (Doti) or Chainpur (Bajhang), with basic facilities.
