Badimalika

A high grassland shrine at over 4,000 m above Martadi, reached on a pilgrimage at the Janai Purnima full moon.
Badimalika is a goddess worshipped on a high ridge of rolling pasture (patan) in Bajura, at around 4,200 m. At the August full moon thousands of pilgrims climb for several days through forest and meadows to her shrine, following processions of priests.
The ridge gives an immense view of the far-western Himalaya, including Saipal and Api, and the meadows are full of flowers and medicinal herbs in summer. Outside the pilgrimage, the trail is empty and a guide is essential.
