Surma Sarovar
A sacred glacial lake below Surma Devi peak in Bajhang, a remote pilgrimage in the shadow of the Saipal range.
Surma Sarovar lies high in northern Bajhang beneath the peak of Surma Devi. Pilgrims walk here for several days at the August full moon to worship the goddess Surma, whose main temple stands lower in the valley.
The route passes through villages of the Seti valley and high pastures with views of Saipal (7,031 m), the highest peak of the far west. This is remote country with very basic facilities; go with a local guide and camping gear.
