Barpak and Laprak
Large Gurung villages near the 2015 earthquake's epicentre, rebuilt and welcoming visitors on a new homestay trail.
Barpak is a large, densely built Gurung village on a steep slope in northern Gorkha, famous as a recruiting ground for the Gurkhas — including a Victoria Cross holder. The 25 April 2015 earthquake had its epicentre close by and destroyed most houses; the village has since rebuilt.
A trail links Barpak with Laprak over a ridge with views of Manaslu and Buddha Himal, with homestays in both villages. Visiting supports the recovery of the area.
