Besisahar and Lamjung Durbar
Lamjung's headquarters and the traditional start of the Annapurna Circuit, below the old hilltop palace of the Lamjung kings.
Besisahar is a busy bazaar on the Marsyangdi where trekkers pick up jeeps for the Annapurna Circuit. Lamjung was one of the Chaubise (24) kingdoms; its old palace, Lamjung Durbar, stands on a ridge above the town and is linked with the ancestors of the Shah kings of Gorkha.
Short walks from town lead to Gaunshahar and the durbar with views of the Himalaya, and the district's hills are home to Gurung, Magar, Dura and Brahmin–Chhetri villages.
