Godawari and Phulchowki
The national botanical garden and sacred springs at the foot of Phulchowki, the valley's highest hill and a birding hotspot.
Godawari, in the south-east corner of the valley, is home to the National Botanical Garden, the spring-fed Godawari Kunda where a fair is held every twelve years, and the Naudhara (nine spouts) shrine.
Behind it rises Phulchowki (2,782 m), the highest point on the valley rim. Its forest of oak and rhododendron is one of the best birdwatching sites near Kathmandu, and a road and trail lead to the summit shrine of Phulchowki Mai with a wide Himalayan view.
