Basantapur and Tehrathum Dhaka
A cold ridge bazaar at the end of the Koshi Highway, in the district famous for weaving Nepal's dhaka cloth.
Basantapur sits on the ridge between Dhankuta and Tehrathum and is the trailhead for the Tinjure–Milke–Jaljale walk. The air is cool, and the ridge has views towards Makalu and Kanchenjunga.
Tehrathum district, especially Myanglung, is known across Nepal for dhaka — the patterned cotton cloth used to make the dhaka topi cap and shawls. Many households still weave on handlooms, and co-operatives sell directly to visitors.
