The Bhote Koshi ('river from Tibet') tumbles down from the border at Kodari through a narrow, forested gorge. Its steep gradient makes it one of the most exciting short rafting rivers in the world, with continuous rapids in the high-water months.
Riverside camps near Borde and Barabise run rafting, kayaking and canyoning trips, and a suspension bridge high above the gorge is the site of a famous bungee jump. The Araniko Highway follows the valley, so it is only about three hours from Kathmandu.
