Birendranagar and Bulbule Lake

The planned capital of Karnali Province in the Surkhet valley, with a spring-fed lake and park at its edge.
Birendranagar was laid out in the 1970s in the flat Surkhet valley and is now the capital of Karnali Province and the road gateway to Jumla, Dailekh and Kalikot. It is a green, relaxed city with a clock tower and a busy bazaar.
Bulbule Lake, fed by bubbling springs (bulbule), is a park with boating and shrines on the edge of town. Nearby are the Kakrebihar ruins, the Deuti Bajai temple and hill viewpoints over the valley.
