Okhaldhunga and Rumjatar
A quiet ridge town with a long view of the Everest range, the flat airstrip-plateau of Rumjatar and orange orchards.
Okhaldhunga's headquarters, now Siddhicharan municipality, is named after Siddhicharan Shrestha, the 'poet of the age' born here in 1912. The town has an old stone fort (gadhi) and the long-running Okhaldhunga Community Hospital, and the ridge looks north to Everest and Numbur on clear days.
Nearby Rumjatar sits on an unusual flat terrace with an airstrip, and the district's hills are known for oranges, lapsi and Sherpa, Magar, Rai and Chhetri villages. It is well off the tourist trail and very welcoming.
