Balthali
A terraced Tamang and Brahmin hill village south of Panauti, with a small resort and a big mountain view.
Balthali sits on a ridge above the Roshi valley, a patchwork of terraced fields, farmhouses and forest. From the top the Himalaya runs across the northern skyline, and the valley below turns green in the monsoon and gold at harvest.
It is a short hike or drive from Panauti or Namobuddha, and a good place for a slow night or two in the countryside close to Kathmandu.
