Rukumkot and Kamal Daha

The old seat of the Rukum kings, with a lotus lake and temple, headquarters of remote Rukum East.
Rukumkot is a small settlement on a terrace in the Magar hills, once the seat of a local kingdom and now the headquarters of Rukum East. Its lake, Kamal Daha (also called Rukmini Tal), is covered with lotus in summer and has a temple on its shore.
Above the district rises Sisne Himal, and the high trails lead to Dhorpatan and Dolpo. Rukum East is one of the least visited districts of Nepal, with warm hospitality and traditional Magar culture.
