Phewa is Nepal's second-largest lake and the heart of Pokhara. On calm mornings the snow peak of Machhapuchhre and the Annapurna range are mirrored in its surface, and colourful wooden boats wait along the Lakeside shore.
Row or be rowed to the island temple of Tal Barahi, a two-tiered pagoda of the goddess Barahi, and on to the far shore to climb to the World Peace Pagoda. Paragliders from Sarangkot drift down over the lake in the afternoons.
